About The Group HOW TO JOIN Who We Are

VANCOUVER SOCIAL BOARD
BY LAWS/TERMS AND CONDITIONS

The mission statement of the Vancouver Social Board is:

The Vancouver Social Board is a men's social improvement group with the mandate to help men improve their lives. Whereas previously the focus was on understanding the nature of the male-female dynamic, now the focus continues to be on social improvement for dating and relationships, but also includes all other men's issues, such as health and wealth, in recognition that the holistic approach to self improvement is the most attractive approach.

We do this by providing a social and support network through the use of an interactive forum, events, outings, talks, and through advice, recommendations and counseling, to provide men with help to improve themselves in all areas of personal development including health, wealth and relationships with a specific emphasis on dating and relationships.

If you are applying for membership with the Vancouver Social Board, or if you are a member of the Vancouver Social Board, then you understand and agree to the following By-Laws:

Membership Requirements

All members are required to agree and abide to the current VSB By Laws (this document) and forum Terms and Conditions (see Code of Conduct section). All members must also acknowledge the two basic rules of the VSB, that:

  1. This is not a competition, we are here to help each other.
  2. You must be willing to try (i.e. participate).

Admission into the Vancouver Social Board

Currently we get many requests to join the Vancouver Social Board. All prospective members much undergo a meeting process with a member of the VSB, as designated at the time by the group owner. The purpose of this meeting is both to educate and screen prospective members.

To gain entry into the Vancouver Social Board, prospective members are encouraged to come and meet the membership at a meeting, event, or outing previous to doing one of three entry requirements:

  1. Take the Intro to Game course, offered through and in partnership with Man Meets Woman (www.manmeetswoman.com), which includes an introduction to the VSB, an introduction to approaching and meeting women, a talk on basic wingman rules, and an hour of in-field coaching, at the discounted rate of $100 plus applicable taxes. The Intro to Game course is scheduled every six to eight weeks in Vancouver, BC, Canada.
  2. In recognition that we do not want the cost of the Intro to Game course to be a barrier to entry, we may further reduce the rate of $100 to $50 plus applicable taxes for those prospective members who require so, and ask that, to get the reduced rate, these members must volunteer their time to help out with the VSB for five hours, and must also attend every designated required VSB initiative for a period of three months. The designations are arbitrary, and will always involve a self improvement activity or social event.
  3. In recognition that some prospective members may wish a further reduced rate, these members may join the VSB for $25 plus applicable taxes, for which they will get a meeting for a rundown of the wingman rules and these members must volunteer their time to help out with the VSB for ten hours, and must also attend every designated required VSB initiative for a period of five months. The designations are arbitrary and will always involve a self improvement activity or social event.

New members are required to (currently) live in Vancouver for a period of time, and be able to participate to events organized by the VSB, or take part of outings with VSB members. Thus we encourage membership from the local population.

Entry into the Vancouver Social Board means entry into both the Yahoo Group and the VSB Multi-threaded forum.

After entry into the Vancouver Social Board, new members are required to post a quick introduction of themselves in the New Members area of the muti-threaded forum.

Usage of the VSB Multi-threaded Forum

New members into the VSB are allowed immediate access into both the Yahoo Group and the VSB Multi-threaded Forum.

Members admitted into the Yahoo Group will have perpetual membership in the group, however, to maintain membership in the VSB Multi-threaded forum, members must adhere to its Terms and Conditions and must login on a monthly basis and make a post at least once every three months. Failure to do so will result in these accounts being de-activated, and a request to reinstate the account must be sent to the forum administration. After a reinstatement request, an account will be reactivated after one month, unless the administrators deem that you are repeatedly in violation of the forum rules.

Activities for the Vancouver Social Board

All members are encouraged to initiate activities for the VSB, which are open to any variety of themes and topics. From time to time, we will designate someone to be the Activity Manager for an event, whose responsibility it will be to organize the event and have people attend. It is important that if a member organizes the event that he must see it through to completion.

All activities and events organized for the VSB must be low cost or free (the exception is the Intro to Game course). It is acceptable to ask members to pay a nominal fee for room rentals or speaker's fees, which should not exceed $10 except in the case where actual costs exceed this.

It is also encouraged that members set up ongoing events and communicate with the membership that these are going on, to encourage more awareness and participation.
